Tony Stewart CommentRoHS compliance : May 10th - We are seeing customer expectations related to RoHS compliance evolve into requirements that are becoming increasingly difficult to address.
Typical requirements now read:
A. Supplier shall maintain test and/or inspection records to substantiate RoHS compliance.
B. A First Article report is required providing proof of compliance with the current EU RoHS directive.
Knowing that resin manufacturers will not provide RoHS test/inspection data, there does not appear to be an alternative other than having product tested periodically.
We wish to understand what other injection molders are doing when faced with similar requests.
We also wish to know if anyone has developed legally defensible language with which to address requests to maintain RoHS test records.

Jim Harkness CommentStart up & break cover control : May 3rd - Two areas in which we experience prevalent failures are start up and break cover controls.
We have adopted a team approach to startup and still something gets missed - and is generally picked up later when some 'bright spark' remembers eh we did this different last time...
Second break cover we have lead operators that cover breaks and often we find they either miss something or forget during that cover to carry our an important feature to check - the operator comes back and find issues.
Any feedback on improving such concerns would be received with much glee
