Plastic Industry Forum - Converse with Plastics Processing Leaders / Business / Pros and Cons of setting up production in Mexico

Are you aware of research studies on the pro/cons of establishing plastics production in or near the boarder of Mexico? Do you have personal experience?

We have a couple of customers that are pushing for us to develop operations near their facilities in Mexico or at the boarder. It's not part of our business plan today but we need to investigate, perform due diligence and be able to factually respond with a higher level of intelligence when we're "asked." (aka...pressured)

Let me know if there are other contacts that you may know that could help.

Hello,
I am not aware of any research studies but have first hand experience in and near El Paso, Texas. I would be happy to share our knowledge with you and try to answer questions.

Dear Tech Molded Plastics:

Under the Members Section of the MAPP Website, you will find a Business and Technical Resource Tab.  Under this tab you will find those that have listed their contact information in areas where they feel they can be of assistance to other MAPP Members.

Under Culture - Mexico, you will find Kelly Schwenk of Pyramid Plastics listed as a contact.  Kelly has extensive experience in this area along with joint ventures and other activities.  To contact him, call him direct at 815-398-0898 or email him directly from the Business and Technical Resource Director.

We have an operation in Guanajuato Mexico, which is 2.5 hours northwest of Mexico City.  It is a partnership with our German Joint Venture partner.  I would be happy to share experiences.
