I am interested in finding out what kind of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software) programs are being used and the pros and cons of the system being used and if you would recomend what you use.

Jason, I have a couple of resources for you if you are trying to learn more about maintenance management systems.

First, if you logon to the MAPP website, visit the Members Area and click on the Business and Technical Resource Tab, you will find a category called Maintenance Management.  There are about 6 individuals who have strong plastics backgounds that have done extensive research into maintenance systems and software that are willing to help you.  Just pick up the phone and send them an email.

MAPP also commissioned two maintenance studies several years ago that were completed mostly by injection molders and extruders.  Under the Member Section of the website, please go to Benchmarking and then to Plant Management.  The first mainteance survey done in '02 has a question realtive to software in use, and although old, will give brand names of what is currently being used.

Last, but not least, MAPP has been researching an on-line maintenance management system called eMaint Enterprises, LLC.  eMaint is a leading provider of Computerized Maintenance Management (CMMS) and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) application software designed to meet the maintenance, repair, and operations needs of businesses. Jason, I talked with Rene Wert, Director of Maintenance of Prism Plastics and he has done extensive research on CMMS systems.  He indicated that he would be willing to share what he learned if you want to give him a call at 715-246-7535.

Mark Hoffmeier at Dorel has offered to let me come and look at his maintenance software.  He said it does everything I’m looking for.  I have actually looked at that package in the past and kept its info as one to consider when we were serious about upgrading our system.  I think with the growth we're about to see, it would be a perfect time to implement a system like this.
