Plastic Industry

From a plastics operations benchmarking standpoint, our operation is making the attempt to figure out if there is a standard number of "investment training hours per person" in the Plastics Industry?  (Example:  each employee receives 40 hrs of training per year.)

Reason for my question is NPI is measuring training hours but I have nothing to compare our training hours to.

Any suggestions?

Ann, this is a great question.

According to the 2008 North American Plastics Industry Study, 71.2% (MEAN) of Press Operators receive annual training beyond orientation.

The actual number of training hours given to a Press Operator ranges widely from (Low = 4 Hours to High = 36 Hours).  The Mean number of Training hours is 25.

The MEAN Total Dollars (direct costs) spent on "Training per Employee per Year" is $229.46.  Again, the range vaires for training dollars from the Low = $75.71 to High = $273.19.
