Plastic Industry

We are new to MAPP and are very excited about participating in the various activities. We are a custom thermoformer focusing on retail, industrial, and medical packaging. One thing that is fairly immediate need for us is to understand how to market and sell in Mexico. We will be participating in a U.S. Dept. of Commerce sponsored trade mission in May. This will actually be our third attempt to use government agency assistance to generate some business in Mexico. Both previous attempts have resulted in what appear to be promising leads, but no actual business.

There appears to be a need in Mexico for the design expertise and demand management skills that we possess. One thought we have had is to contract with a sales rep or distributor in Mexico rather than try to sell direct to end users. It seems as if the business culture in Mexico might require more frequent contact than what we can provide. We would appreciate any input on your experiences doing business in Mexico and what you have found to be the best model for selling in Mexico.

Dear MAPP Members:

Our law firm, SZD, belongs to a law firm alliance that includes a firm from Mexico.  If UPPI or any other MAPP Member needs some legal assistance there, I can put them in touch with our affiliate there.
