We are interested in eliminating the cardboard that sticks to the purge 'pies'. We are trying to identify a non stick cardboard, having tried coating the purge pans with mold release, Pam cooking spray and other aerosols. We have even tried flexible silicone non-stick bakeware in an effort to keep the corrugated paper out of the blending/mixing units and from burning off inside the screw. We run a majority of PE, PP, PS and some Engineered grades. What successes exist within the MAPP Group on dealing with purge patties so they can be recycled?

Jeff,
We made purge pans or buckets out of aluminum.  Dependent upon your machine size and purge size, we welded aluminum together and put handles on the ends.  The purge can then be removed once it has cooled and put into a gaylord for sale to your recycler.  We currently sell about 3000 pounds a month to our recycler.  Send me an e-mail if you need more info. denniskelley@drugplastics.com
