We currently operate 24/5 with three shifts.  Due to capacity limitations and an increasing work load, we are considering hiring a 4th (or swing) shift and expanding to a 24/7 schedule.  Does anyone have any recommendations on how to best implement and organize this change?

Please email me at brwilson@montrosemolders.com

Many Thanks,

Brendan, there was a nice discussion about going to full coverage several months ago on the MAPP forum.

Either do a Search on "Shifts" or copy and paste this URL into your browser if the link doesn't take you to the righ location.

Let me know if you have any questions.

We moved to a 4 shift operation over 10 years ago and it was one of the best moves we did. It helped reduce absenteeism and allowed us to maximize our capacity. Our 4 shift schedule is outlined below.

Su, Mo, Tu

Team A (7 am – 7 pm)

Team B (7 pm – 7 am)

We, Th, Fr

Team C (7 am – 7 pm)

Team D (7 pm – 7 am)

Every other Saturday Team A/Team B works. The other Saturday Team C/Team D works.

The key to a successful implementation from the traditional 3 shfit/5 day schedule was to take some time to explain reasons for the move and then allow everyone to vote on 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices. We only had a few people who had to take their 2nd choice and none for their 3rd choice.

Good Luck.
