We are asking how other molders handle date code pins. Do you have a formal price structure or is the cost "absorbed"?

Like everyting else,  our customers expect us to absorb the cost of keeping these current even on tools that they transfer to us.

We use a cost assignment strategy that weights the volume requirements of molding jobs along with the overall importance a customer has on our business.

From a baseline, we will usually absorb the cost of managing the data sets if the job has enough volume of plastics parts.  However, for low run molding jobs, we tend to charge the customer for the data pins.

In cases where the volume may be low but the customer important to our overall business strategy high, we tend to absorb the costs.

We just absorb the cost.
