MAPP Honors Members with Educational Outreach Award
Indianapolis, IN – On October 4, 2019, the Manufacturers Association for Plastics Processors honored three member champions with the MAPP 2019 Educational Outreach Awards. Coinciding with Manufacturing Day, these awards recognize those MAPP members who have made a significant impact in the promotion of a career in manufacturing.
Awards this year were distributed to three winners, including:
Through strategic partnerships with schools, programs and/or students, these awardees have all made significant efforts to increase interest, raise awareness and build skills within the plastics manufacturing industry. This is the fourth year for this award, and the contest was narrowed down to 12 submissions, with over 300 member votes determining the winners.
Kelly Goodsel, president and CEO of Viking Plastics, had to say about the first place award, “Viking Plastics is honored to win the Educational Outreach Award for the second time in three years. This award is a great way to recognize companies for their engagement with local schools, programs, and students. We have placed in this competition the past 3 years and each year our local high school has astounded us with what they accomplish with the prize money. We are looking forward to seeing what they achieve this year! Thank you to MAPP for hosting this award and recognizing how important educational outreach is!”
In addition, second place winner Mack Molding explained, “This award reinforces our shared commitment to bridge the manufacturing skills gap by influencing a new generation of plastics workers,” said Mack President Jeff Somple. “Looking around Mack today you will see young engineers, technicians and manufacturing leaders who have rediscovered the opportunities presented by manufacturing and are preparing to bring us into the next 100 years of our Company’s history. We are honored by their presence, and to have received this award, and proudly stand with fellow MAPP members who tirelessly work to generate excitement around careers in our industry.”
Winners of this award receive a monetary donation from MAPP, which will go to the recipient’s educational institution or program of choice.
