Re: 1500 Ton Crane Requirements

In my previous life, we were putting in a 2000 press and were planning a 50 ton crane. I would look at the potential mold wt and max machine mold wt to make your decision. The floor reinforcement for the columns and the columns for a 50 ton crane were crazy. I would cut it back to what you actually ...

Unfilled Nylon Processing

We run a lot of unfilled nylon 66 using GP screws and get a lot of cushion alarms. Filled nylons run fine. It has been suggested to use nylon specific screws. Does anyone have experience using nylon screws for other engineered resins and if so, what kind of process changes did you have to make so th...

Re: electric peek load demand

Lindsey/Ken- We have a capacitor bank which does a great job on our Power Factor correction. The local utility says we have one of the best power factors in their customer base. We can monitor, visually, the amp load on the two main power feeds coming into our building. We have a real time readout o...

Re: Radici Plastics - Radilon - Nylon 66

We have run both their prime and post (consumer/industrial). The prime works well. The other has many more challenges depending on the mold style and part geometry.

Re: Alternatives for Opening Heater Tips

If you are talking about the tips in the mold, we typically will first try to put cardboard between the open halves of the mold, close the gate and try injection pressure to shoot thru the open mold/tips. If this doesn't work, we split the plates and pull the tips to remove the "plug" of resin which...

Resin Shipping Surcharges

How are others accurately capturing the various and new shipping charges so they can appropriately be assigned to each pound of resin? With the "delivery" and "fuel surcharges" being per delivery, this makes assigning it to each pound problematic.

Thanks,
Scott

Re: Taxes on Molds

Samir answered the same way we would. We do not collect sales tax on molds here in Indiana.

Personal property taxes are another story. Hope this helps.

Re: Software Validation

We are also 13485 registered. Our registrar has not asked about our ERP software. We have always interpreted the validation rule as only applying software used with/in the device - not to run our company. We have purposely stayed away from device projects with software requirements for this reason.
