Coping strategies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Shfit

What are others doing in terms of manufacturing labor best practices as it relates to monetary and non-monetary incentives to attracting and maintaining talent (Coping strategies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts)?

Ashley,

A couple of things we do, which I'm sure others are doing as well, is for a 2nd & 3rd shift pay premium for working those shifts. Also, we start our production week on Sunday night (3rd shift) and run through Friday night (2nd shift). That way, the 3rd shift team gets Friday & Saturday night off for their weekend verses Saturday & Sunday night off. We run 24/5, so we feel this is an incentive for 3rd shift as it gives them a more "normal" weekend.
