Paper-Based Process Settings to Electronic Files

Post by cradford » Wed Jun 05, 2019 3:57 pm

I'm doing some preliminary research for a project on how to convert our paper copies of processing conditions into an electronic format. I'm wondering if anyone has done a project like this and how they completed it? I'm trying to not go the manual route of having someone go through all our hard copies and enter the data into an electronic form.

My current ideas are:

Scan paper copies and convert the pdfs into excel or word files (not sure how well that would work given the numerous handwriting styles).

See what kind of options the press software provides for saving process settings as an extractable file.

Saving the processing conditions to the machine itself. (Some older presses do not have this capability, and not sure yet how much storage space is in the machine).

Any other ideas or comments?

Thank you.

If you do not have the ability to save setups at the machine control You might try taking a picture of the machine settings
