Mandatory face masks?

Post by brandonmoskal » Tue Aug 25, 2020 1:25 pm

Following the CDC and State Dept of Health recommendations, we require all employees to have a face mask on at all times (unless they're alone in their office). Our plant floor is not air conditioned and employees are experiencing their masks getting soaked with sweat and making it harder to breath. Have other manufacturer's experienced this? If so, how are you helping them while still adhering to expert opinions on keeping everyone safe?

Thanks in advance!

I'm in Connecticut were we have an executive order requiring employees to wear face masks or cloth coverings. Our manufacturing facility is not climate control and we have had our fair share of humid days/nights. We provided our employees with light weight cloth re-usable face masks and have disposable face masks should anyone forget their mask or need to replace it during their shift. We also have a limited supply to replace the original ones issued.
We also allow our employees to wear their own face coverings as long as their nose and mouth are covered. Our employees get three breaks each shift and during the hot months we try to give them an extra break where they can go into an air conditioned break room. Our employees have been really good adhering to the state mandate.

Good luck. Stay Safe!

We are also located in CT and while we do have a climate controlled facility it can still get warm depending on how physical your work is. I purchased face gaitors for the team members that were interested. They are from MISSION and have cooling material for the fabric. It doesn't completely eliminate the heat but it did help some and they were grateful we tried to find a solution! - Amanda

We have provided "cooling" style fabric face masks and allow them to wear their own as long as nose and mouth are covered. We are air conditioned, but it is still causing complaints. We will continue as long as CDC recommends this action.
