Westec Plastics is a custom injection molding company located in Livermore, CA. We have been in business under the same ownership for over 50 years. Westec has been steadily growing over the past five years and is moving towards the next level of medical & consumer manufacturing.

• The Production Engineer position will assist in site operations contributing towards improving manufacturing efficiencies by utilizing continuous improvement techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes the following, but not limited to, as other duties may apply)
• Drive change and be comfortable working with all levels within the organization.
• Work to abolish the status quo; must be a strong communicator.
• Manage and lead continuous improvement projects, as well as mentoring and coaching employees on continuous improvement, Lean and Lean Six Sigma
• Apply Lean and Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology in the implementation of manufacturing excellence initiatives.
• Drives the standardization of processes and the implementation of metrics and best practices.
• Evaluates manufacturing equipment and recommends areas of improvement and automation. Serves as the project lead for the design of new fixtures and equipment. Works together with the in- house fabrication team for anything that can be made internally. Identifies suppliers, obtains quotes and works together with the hired contractors for any outsourced equipment.
• Performs time studies, assesses job assignments relative to take time and creates value stream maps for various Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Supply Chain processes.
• Works with department Supervisors as well as Manufacturing Management to develop and implement comprehensive 5S plans for areas within the production facility.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, Industrial or Manufacturing preferred.
• 5 years’ experience in an Operations environment, injection molding experience a huge bonus!
• Robust knowledge of Lean principles with prior experience implementing them in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong problem solving skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with ISO 13485 or ISO 9001:2015 standards
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and schematics. Proficiency to edit/generate technical drawings a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:
This position works in an office and manufacturing environment.
Department: Manufacturing Reports to: President
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
