Hi all,
I'm sure everyone saw the news at the end of 2018 that tariffs on injection molds have been suspended. This occurred at the same time the government shut down so it was assumed they would not be lifted until the government reopened. However, it appears they still have not been lifted. I've checked with our freight forwarder on a couple of occasions and they have yet to be notified by USTR that tariffs on injection molds have been suspended. I googled this topic again today and the only reference to the suspension of tariffs are the same articles that came out at the end of 2018 and beginning of 2019. The lack of information is a bit frustrating as several of our customers now assume tariffs are no longer in effect. Does anyone have any further information as to why the suspension has not yet been implemented and who we might contact to get more information as to why or when it might occur?
Thanks for any help you can lend!
Joel

Re: Suspension of Tariffs
The tariffs have been lifted. Our freight forwarded confirmed and are working on refunds for the tariffs we've previously paid.
They originally said they hadn't been lifted, but I pushed them to research and they were able to confirm.
"It appears that this classification is eligible for exclusion from the additional duties based on provisional tariff 9903.88.05. For any entries that you have paid the higher duty rate, we can apply for a refund with Customs. Please let us know if there are any entries that you would like us to file this for."
I'm sure the refunds will be a long time in coming, but we didn't have to pay them on current shipments

Re: Suspension of Tariffs
Has anyone heard if the exclusion below is still in effect with the new Tariffs that were applied Friday 5-10-19?
• This exclusion applies to injection molds and mold bases used in the plastics and rubber industries. These molds are covered by HTS code 8480.71.8045.
Or in the next round due later this summer?
Also, How do you go about getting refunded for the Tariffs that were paid last since July 2018?

We have the exact same question... have tariffs been re-instated on injection molds this month? If so, are we back to 25% ??
