Ernie Green Industries was founded in 1981 as a Tier 1 supplier to the automotive industry. Position Summary
This position will focus on product development and testing of plastic injection-molded products, including technical interface with customer engineers, new product design, plus support plant and program managers in launching of products. Duration of responsibility is generally from Pre - award through steady state production to ensure achievement in program deliverables and successful launch; particularly in the attainment of part costs, quality expectations (PPAP), and delivery requirements (timing).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provides engineering and technical support for plastic injection-molded products from quoting phase through part approval process and launch
• Interfaces with customers, suppliers, and internal plants to help provide the highest quality product
• Performs feasibility studies for part tooling and manufacturability
• Evaluates part designs for quality, functionality, and assembly
• Evaluates designs by studying current design, prototypes, similar parts, and competitor parts to improve products and processes
• Manages design and process changes and coordinates with customers as needed
• Directs all engineering activities related to product development – design, materials, CAE/FEA
• Leads or coordinates all design and validation efforts including DFMEA, DFMA, testing, measurements, and any other customer requirements for part approval
• Reviews / Creates engineering specifications and creates design and test plans to ensure customer requirements are satisfied
• Evaluates dimensional reports and test data
• Coordinates with designers to create internal and customer drawings, evaluate part environment and system tolerances
• Coordinates and communicates that the part maintains all requirements & design intent within development scheduled timeframe
• Supports quotation and cost estimating activities as needed
• Leads or assists in VA/VE activities
• Travel to facilities, suppliers, and/or customers (50% - 100% depending on workload).

• Understanding of cost, systems, tooling, manufacturing

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize ongoing and time-sensitive projects simultaneously
• Ability to tell customers what they might not want to hear
• Strong design and quality skills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and designs
• Ability to come to closure on projects
• Good understanding of Word, Excel, Power Point, and Microsoft Project
• Working knowledge and understanding of CAD – CATIA, Unigraphics and/or Solidworks
• Knowledge of materials

Education and Job Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• At least 5 years in a Program Engineering role, or equivalent
• Ability to travel and work remotely as needed

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Annual Salary: $85k - $90K plus annual incentive
